In 1975, I began at a Vancouver TV station and have spent most of my career on set as a Gaffer and Lighting Director through to 2000. Projects have included feature films, TV series and specials as well as commercials, music videos, corporate productions and trade shows.
My interests in the visual aspect of production during this period have given me many opportunities to expand my knowledge into other areas including time as a DOP, Camera Operator, Documentary Filmmaker, Set Designer, Audio Technician and Voice-Over Announcer.
Since 2000, I have focused exclusively on computer graphics, animation and the web as a freelance producer and designer. During this time, I have applied my extensive and varied on set experience to developing computer skills in the area of 3d graphics, graphic design, animation and compositing.
My lighting knowledge has been especially useful in 3d work and matching / compositing cgi with
real-world elements.
Computer Skills

Working Knowledge of Boujou, Matchmover, Combustion and Illustrator.

Digital Imaging & Design Portfolio
My primary portfolio site contains both learning projects and client work. The majority of content has been created by myself including concepts, models, texturing, lighting, compositing, tracking, animation and footage aquisition. 3d Projects images are all original with the exception of some newspapers, logos and photos.The Brands and Logos page is a collection of images created in both 2D and 3D.
The animation reel is a compilation of snippets from various client and learning projects. The VW Beetle project is an example of flash design and concept, built as a web intro.
The MacEachern Drum Company site is one of my latest web projects and I`m responsible for all aspects of the build including the product itself. The NBC series "The Black Donnellys" episode previews are done in a graphic novel style developed as a basis for interactive video content. Animated ID`s for Super Channels six broadcast services going to air in November of 2007 and an animated Shaw campaign are my latest projects.
